Started C25K on Sunday - a spur of the moment decision while chatting to Lisa on Facebook and she was about to go for her run (She was up to Wk 4 Day 1).
Ran on a bitumen track - my joints hate me! Shin splints, knees, hip - not happy! Have been literally hobbling around the office with my hip. The running was surprisingly easy. Actually, Lisa lent me her spare iPod with the program on it and I stuffed it up. Did the warm up walk, first run, walk, then ran for 2 1/2 minutes because I didn't hear the cue to stop running lol From there on, my walks and runs were out of whack so I was actually doing 90 second runs and 60 second walks. Oh well, better to do more I guess than less.
Today I completed Wk 1 Day 2 - on a treadmill at the gym. Oh lordy lordy it was so much better! I've downloaded an app to my iPhone which I can also add music to and change from day to day. I prepared my song list - slower songs at the beginning and end for the warm up and cool down. Silly machine mixed them all up though didn't it? Didn't matter, I still enjoyed it.
My walks I did at 5.5kph (if I'm seriously walking on treadmill would normally be 6kph). My first two runs I did at 9.5 kph. Did the next 6 at 10 kph (fastest I've tried on a treadmill) then did the last run at 11 kph - wow it felt great!
For day 3 I will do first one at 10 kph, then 7 at 11kph and do the last one 12 kph - if I can! I felt a bit more motivated being able to see my speed. OK, so I'm no Tamsyn Lewis, closer to a Cliffy Young, but hell, I'M RUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Anyone who knows me has heard me say "This temple doesn't run!"
Went straight from the gym to the dojo for a karate class. Damn was I tired by the end of it - quite fatigued! Next run due Thursday, but I have an osteo appointment then karate class so it may have to wait until Friday - which will work out well because I don't have a class. Then Saturday is my first State training session. Bit worried about that one. I don't want to embarass myself.
Well, that's it from this exhausted blogger tonight :-)
